ACAT Canada is an organization that fights against torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. She defends the rights of human rights defenders, prisoners of conscience, detainees, hospitalized people, people under arrest, detained migrants, people living with trauma following torture, indigenous people, etc. Since its founding in 1984, it has intervened directly with governments to put an end to these inhumane practices.
