Entomofaune du Québec (EQ) Inc
Founded in 1988, our organization's mission is to promote scientific
knowledge of the diversity of insect fauna in Quebec, in order to better
appreciate and conserve it. In so doing, we contribute to the development of the community in Quebec and around the world.
Our actions :
- encourage and support citizen initiatives to inventory
insects in Quebec;
- contribute to scientific knowledge for the management of endangered species ;
- publish French-language insect identification guides and entomological reference works at ;
- disseminate reliable scientific information on the Web about insect groups
, such as dragonflies, ants, aphids, bugs, leafhoppers, etc.
- promote concerted action to better integrate entomology into the
society;
- promote entomological heritage, in particular the
cultural heritage left by Abbé Léon Provancher [1820-1892], nicknamed
the Linné of Canada, an important player in the scientific history of Quebec and North America.
