The Caisse populaire de Lavernière was founded in 1938 and is the first credit union in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. It was created to help island residents save and obtain loans at reasonable rates. Since its creation, the Caisse populaire de Lavernière has continued to serve the community by offering financial services and encouraging cooperation and solidarity.
